In 2004, Comrade Devanti approached the party with a wish to become a member, having been inspired by the partys struggle against corruption and for better health services in the Balia district hospital. She participated enthusiastically in all the partys movements.

On 24 September, a condolence meeting was held in her memory at Sikandarpur (Balia), attended by AIARLA National President Comrade Rameshwar Prasad, General Secretary Comrade Dhirendra Jha, State President Shriram Choudhury (who was Comrade Devantis husband), Jan Sanskriti Manch General Secretary Pranay Krishna, former CPI(ML) MLA from Bihar Comrade Amarnath Yadav, UP Standing Committee member of the party Comrade Rajesh Sahni, District Secretary Lal Saheb and many others.
